ADDITIONAL
TERMINOLOGY:
ROLLED:
The term "Rolled" as used in the galleries of this
website, indicates that the poster has NEVER been folded and
was issued and will be shipped Rolled in a Heavy Duty
Shipping Tube. Rolled posters are often more desirable,
collectible and more valuable than their folded
counterparts.
LINEN BACKED
(On Linen)
/ PAPER BACKED:
Linen backing
is a preservation process whereby a poster is professionally
mounted to cloth, such as linen or cotton. Linen backing
helps preserve the poster by slowing down or preventing the
natural aging process that causes poster paper to turn
yellow or become brittle over the years. In addition, it
makes the poster more durable. Linen backing is used by
professional poster restorers many times to repair posters
and return them to their original condition. While Linen
backing is used for paper stock posters, Paper Backing (used
for the same preservation purpose) is often used for card
stock posters.
